Gunn is featured in the latest issue of Architectural Digest (The Power of Design, February 2013) for a project in New Canaan, CT. A true example of Gunn’s collaborative approach, we worked closely with the clients, interior designers, and Specht Harpman Architects to create a modern masterplan for the property’s comprehensive redesign. Landscape details including mounded ‘Green Velvet’ boxwood, abundant deciduous trees (Japanese Cedar, Redwood, Magnolia, and Whitespire Birch)—as well as ipe-wood decking, steps, and benches, a sunken lounge with fireplace, and stucco pool pavilion—all add to the contemporary aesthetic and highlight the site’s lustrous landscape. As Avery Stirratt, the client, notes in the AD article: whether entertaining guests, or appreciating the expansive view within the comfort of their home’s floor‐to‐ceiling glass windows, “We wanted the outside to be the star, and it is.”
