To kick off a busy spring season, Gunn Landscape Architecture was asked to participate in the 40th Annual Kips Bay Decorator Show House. This year’s organizers strayed from their typical townhouse, holding the event in the Aldyn, a new construction high-rise building on Riverside Boulevard. Over thirty talented designers have brought an aesthetic touch to two brand new multi-story penthouses, both of which boast 4,000 square foot terraces. We were presented the challenge of designing both terraces, seizing the opportunity to collaborate with our sister company, Vert Gardens Inc., to demonstrate the vast scope of our work. One terrace is whimsical and playful, while the other remains mature, bucolic, and romantic.

The North Terrace design would not have been possible without the generous support of D’Apostrophe/Royal Botania, Pennoyer Newman, Eric Slayton, sculptors Gaviero Umami, Telescopes of Vermont, and RoofDeck Solutions. We’d also like to thank SYNlawn, sculptor Robert Cannon, DDC, Carleton V, and Walter’s Wicker for their support in helping to realize the design of the South Terrace.

There are just a few more weeks to see the show—we encourage our clients and followers to attend! Tickets are $30 and all proceeds go to the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club, which currently serves 12,000 of our city’s youth at different sites throughout the Bronx.
